Fall Jog-A-Thon
The Jog-A-Thon is a unique fundraiser that encourages fitness while raising money for the class. Through pledges of either per lap or flat donation, kids run/walk/jog laps around the school parking lot. One lap is equivalent to approximately 1/8 of a mile. Family and friends are encouraged to come and cheer their students on!

On Friday, October 18 students and staff will run/walk on a marked track for 20 minutes at Lake Ann Elementary. Prior to the event, students will gather pledges – either a fixed dollar amount or an amount per lap completed. Proceeds will go towards Classroom Enrichment, Field Trips, All-School Activities, School Programs, and much more.
The support of each student, their family, and the community at large is the cornerstone that will make this event a success thereby ensuring that our school can continue its tradition of fun activities throughout the year. Each student will be given a packet that contains the instructions and the pledge sheets that are to be returned over the course of the next Three weeks. The pledge sheets are brought to school each Monday for the next three weeks. For every pledge on the student's pledge sheet, he/she will receive a raffle ticket. Tickets will be drawn at random and prizes will be presented to the winners at the Jog-A-Thon Awards Assembly.
Team/Class Awards
- Grand Prize - Class Pizza Party & Class photo displayed in the showcase at school - The class with the highest total pledge amount collected (averaged by students in class)
- First Place Prize - Class Popcorn Party & Class photo displayed in the showcase at school – The class with the most laps run (averaged by students in class)
- Class photo displayed in Showcase
Team Classroom Perks
Money raised is also totaled as a class and for every $250 raised, the class will receive $20.00 for class needs. For example, if Mr. Milne's class raises a combined total of $1000, $80 will go to his classroom. If a class's combined total equals $2500 or more, that class will earn a bonus of $150 bringing the total of money going to the classroom to $350! Image what a class could get with that money earned!

Step 1: Obtain Pledges +
From September 27th through October 28th,, students can obtain Jog-A-Thon pledges from family and friends. Pledges can be for a set amount or per number of laps jogged. (If weather permits, we will jog outside around a track that is about 1/8 of a mile. In case of inclement weather, we will jog in the gym where three laps around the gym equal 1/8 of a mile.)
New this year: online pledge form! Direct your donators to LakeAnnPTA.com/pledge to use their credit/debit card for pledges. They will be instructed to enter the student’s name so that the pledge can be added to that student’s total.
Recording Pledges
Enclosed is a PLEDGE SHEET (blue in color) – use the PLEDGE SHEET to record ALL pledges. THE PLEDGE SHEET GETS TURNED IN WITH YOUR PLEDGE MONEY BY MONDAY, OCTOBER 28. PLEASE DON’T THROW THIS AWAY. This is your only record of pledges you have gathered.
Pledge Contest Drawing
- Students are asked to bring their Weekly Pledge Tally Sheet with new pledge totals to school each Monday starting on Monday, September 30 and ending Monday, October 28.
- ONE raffle ticket will be given from their classroom teacher for each new pledge on their Weekly Pledge Talley Sheet. Students must put their First and Last name on the ticket and drop the ticket into the Jog-A-Thon raffle box in the office. Raffle winners will be drawn at the Jog-A-Thon Awards Assembly. The students drawn will be able to select ONE toy from the prize table. Prizes will be displayed prior to the assembly in the glass case at the entrance of the school.

Step 2: Jog-A-Thon Day +
All Students will be asked to wear a Benzie T-shirt to school, if they have one. Students will run/jog as a class for 20 minutes on an outside track at Lake Ann Elementary. Each class will be led through a 10-minute “warm-up” prior to the run. Students are asked to bring water bottles on the day of the run (small cups of water will also be provided). The cool-down period includes a treat and stretching. In the event of inclement weather, we will hold the Jog-A-Thon in the gym. See the attached Class Schedule to find out when your child’s class will be participating.
