Job Description for Room Representative
Each classroom needs at least 1-3 Classroom Reps to ensure great communication and that the needs of teachers, students, and parents are met. It’s an important job and we’d love your help!
Every parent is automatically a member of the PTA (Parent Teacher Association). Any parent can become a class rep and you can indeed share the role. Being a class rep means that you are involved with the PTA and the school community.
Key Role – Room Representative
- Works with teacher(s) and parents/guardians, as a parent contact and liaison, to build stronger family- school partnerships for a classroom or grade level.
- staying up-to-date on what’s happening at the school and communicating that out to the class.
- Encourages easy, two-way communication between teacher(s) and parents on what’s happening in the classroom to support student success.
- Help the class teacher with class trips/events within the class, often enlisting the help of other parents.
- Communicate PTA news to the class about a future event. Has access to Class page on lakeannpta.com.
- Helps to promote PTA goals, volunteers and activities for the school.
- Attend the monthly PTA meetings.
Class Reward – Room Representative
For each meeting that the Representative attend or coordinates a parent substitute to represent their class at the monthly PTA Meeting and participates in the discussion and planning of actives will receive a $25.00 credit to the classroom field trip account from the PTA General Funds.
